How big is baby? Looks like he’s the size of a papaya still – probably on the higher range this week of 11.8 inches and 20.8 ounces. I never did get that papaya to taste-test.
How I’m feeling? So blessed! We have had a great, but busy week and are now down in Berea with Alex’s mom and dad. We usually spend Christmas Eve with Alex’s side of the family and head home on Christmas day to spend it with my family. It’s a really good arrangement we will probably keep around for the next several years. I’m not sure when we will start to stay home for Christmas – I guess when the baby believes in Santa Claus.
Tonight our plans are to head to my sister-in-law’s sister’s house (complicated enough for ya?!) for Christmas Eve dinner. It’s her first time hosting and it will be a dinner with our family and my sister-in-law’s family, which is like family to us anyway. We usually do a gift card exchange with everyone, but we play the game where you can steal someone else’s gift card. It is always really funny and I’m sure this year will be no different!
After dinner, we’ll head to the in-laws for a present exchange then hang out and later go to bed. Christmas morning means Christmas brunch with the same crowd we had dinner with, then it will be back to Northern Kentucky for Christmas with my family!
I got all of our Christmas shopping done earlier this week and am so happy. Unfortunately, I saved all of the wrapping for yesterday which was a big mistake. I decided to do simple brown kraft paper for wrapping, then embellish the packages with fun little add-ons. They turned out beautifully…but I don’t know that I’ll ever do this again. It was so time-consuming!
As a side note, I love the tablecloth in these pictures! It is so cheery. I found it at a local antique mall. It isn’t exactly a Christmas cloth, but the colors make me think of a crisp, Wintery day.
Any cravings, weird dreams or other symptoms? I’m still craving fruit, specifically pears. Just any pear will do, as long as it is ripe and very juicy. Unfortunately, I’m undoing all that healthy fruit eating because I’m also craving sweet stuff – it must be the season. My family does so much Christmas baking that cookies and fudge and bread and all kinds of yummy stuff is around all of the time.
I also had a bizarre dream where a cannibalistic pig was chasing me. The only way I could stop the pig from chasing me was if I ripped its head open by its jaw. So I did that. Um, what??
Any other details? I’m pretty sure we have chosen our crib! It’s a Jenny Lind style crib, called the Time to Turn In Crib, from Land of Nod.
It’s made in the USA of solid wood which is awesome. It is slightly cheaper than the Oeuf crib, which is also awesome. Plus it’s white and also it doesn’t have a headboard on the long sides – we have to put the crib in front of the window and I don’t want a giant headboard blocking the window.
We will hopefully have the crib ordered by the end of this month. It takes about 2-4 weeks to arrive and I hope in our case it’s the shorter of the two. The crib is really the final piece of furniture that we need. One step closer to completion!
