March 11th-March 17th
How big is baby? Baby is the size of a butternut squash. He’s about 17.2 to 18.7 inches, and about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds. We had an ultrasound this week and he is on the high range of that weight estimate – about 5.6 pounds.
How I’m feeling? Pretty good, considering I am just FOUR WEEKS away from my due date (as of tomorrow)! I remember back in July when we found out we were pregnant. I thought it would take forever to get here. I know I’ve said that a hundred times, but it’s true.
With only four weeks to go, I’ve reached the uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. I’ve got a lot of aches and pains. Sleep is still happening, though, so that’s great. I just have to build myself a pillow fort in order to stay comfortable, haha.
Another thing to note is that the weather around here has become unseasonably warm – like in the high 70s, low 80s kind of warm. We normally don’t see this weather until mid to late April, and into May. Needless to say, I was not anticipating having to put away my long sleeve maternity shirts before actually giving birth. And, unfortunately, all my tank tops and short sleeve shirts (all non-maternity) are getting a little too short. I really, really do not want to spend money on maternity short sleeve shirts, but I might have to splurge on a couple just to keep myself looking decent these last several weeks. Or I could just never leave the house.
Any cravings, weird dreams or other symptoms? I’ve been having very vivid dreams of the baby – so vivid that it seems like I can actually touch and hear him. It’s pretty crazy. I wake up looking for him and then I’m like “oh yeah, duh, he’s still in my belly.” Ha!
My loss of appetite is starting to fade and I think it’s because he’s begun to drop. I no longer feel super full after a few bites of food – which means he is no longer crowding out my stomach! No cravings, though.
Heartburn still wakes me up at night and I’m still downing Tums like a mad woman. I am so sick of Tums! But I’m so glad they do the trick… even if it’s just for a couple hours.
Any other details? On Thursday, we had a growth ultrasound. The baby was measuring mostly on target for growth, but he will likely be on the smaller side (probably 6 or 7 pounds). I am carrying small so I already suspected that. Not to mention I am kind of a small person to begin with – I’m 5’5 and started out at 128 pounds.
It was great to see him on the ultrasound! He was not cooperating – he had his head turned away from us, which seems to be his favorite position. But we did get a great shot of his ear, and that’s one little piece we hadn’t seen before.
Also, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! This is a special day for Alex and I because it’s the five year anniversary of when he proposed to me! And, today was also my second shower – which is why I’m dressed up in my pic!
I didn’t get a pic of the presents on the bed from my last shower, but I did this time! (You’ll have to ignore my giant pregnancy pillow propped up on the headboard.. it looks like a pillow slug)
Aslan popped into the picture – as he likes to do. We started sorting the presents right after I took this picture and that’s Aslan’s favorite part. He thinks every thing is for him and he dances all around the bed, begging for toys, clothes – basically anyway, haha.
I’ll share pictures of the shower in another entry, but it was a beautiful event and I left feeling blessed all over again. We are so lucky in that we don’t have too much left to get for Baby Boy before his arrival. The only thing I really need to do is organize his room! It’s a mess!
Next Wednesday is my next doctor appointment and after that I’ll be going once a week. Not too much longer!
