February 19th-February 25th
How big is baby? Baby is the size of a squash. This designation kind of makes me laugh because squash really vary in size, a lot. But I guess babies do too. He is 2.5 to 3.8 pounds and measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches.
How I’m feeling? Tired of not being able to sleep for more than 2-3 hours! I can’t even describe the extreme pain I feel in my hips. It’s like someone has peeled back the skin and is just prodding around in there with a hot needle. I actually dreamed I was having hip surgery one night because the pain was so bad. But apart from that, I’m feeling pretty good. I just tired out a lot more quickly.
Any cravings, weird dreams or other symptoms? I am craving custard filled donuts like you wouldn’t believe. If someone brought me a dozen of those donuts, I would probably scream with delight and eat them all by myself.
I dreamed I had triplets and, for not expecting to give birth to triplets, I think I handled it pretty well. They grew up so fast, though. One day they were newborns and the next they were toddlers.
And there was also the hip surgery dream. Weird and disturbing.
Heartburn is still around like nobody’s business. My doctor recommended I start taking Zantac for it since it wakes me up at night most nights so I picked some of that up. I haven’t taken it yet, but I’m glad to know I have it just in case!
My belly button is still popping out. It’s not exactly a total outie yet, but it’s getting there.
Any other details? We purchased the paint for nursery this past Sunday! It is called Evening Shadow and is by Sherwin Williams. We got it in the egg shell finish and chose Harmony as the paint base. We chose Harmony (an acrylic latex paint) because it has no paint-like odor at all, no VOCs, anti-microbial properties and it reduces common household odors (in other words: baby poop). In the egg shell finish it was $50.99/gallon plus tax, which is a high price tag BUT we found a 25% coupon (good until the end of this month!) and we signed up for an account in order to receive an additional 10% off. Gotta love saving money! Alex painted the nursery today and I can testify that it really didn’t smell at all. It also covered great – very even and smooth. We’ll only need one coat.
We also got shelves! We ended up getting two 3′ (long) pieces of wood and bronze brackets. But, before we get to hanging… we have to get to staining. I want to stain the shelves a dark cherry shade, to match the dressers.
I had a doctor appointment on Friday and it went well. I’ve gained 19 pounds total and my blood pressure was 100/60 which is good for me. The baby’s heartbeat was strong and overall everything is progressing just fine. I have one more appointment left before I start going weekly – kinda crazy!
But the best news of all is that today was my first shower (which is why I look all dressed up in my picture for this week)! I’ll share more pictures in another post, but suffice it to say it was a lot of fun! My mother- and sister-in-law hosted this shower for me and they did a great job! On top of that my sister-in-law’s mom made centerpieces for the tables, which doubled as gifts, and they were so amazing! The highlights for me were: the incredible chocolate cake we had for dessert, getting our stroller and car seat, getting our pack and play and reading everyone’s well wishes in the guest book. It was a wonderful afternoon and I just can’t believe how blessed Alex and I – and this little baby! – are.
Next week is the start of March and I can’t believe it. Only 7 weeks remaining – outrageous!
Have you sought out a chiropractor for your hip pain? I had such bad lower back and sciatic pain with my pregnancies, I saw a prenatal chiro. It was wonderful! (If you have, and I haven’t seen that post, I apologize.)
You and the bump look lovely!
Actually, I did end up calling my OB for a chiropractic referral and I go on Monday! I am really looking forward to it. I’m glad to know if helped you, hopefully it helps me too!
